Melaka Polls: Early voting kicks off at police headquarters

MELAKA - Early voting for the Melaka state election at the state police contingent headquarters (IPK) begins this morning.

Two voting channels were opened at 8am for the voting process.

Voters arrived as early as 7.45am for registration before carrying out their responsibility as a Malaysian citizen.

It is estimated that a total of 739 voters will cast their vote at IPK Melaka, which will be opened until 5pm today.

Agents of candidates and election observers appointed by the Election Commission (EC) are allowed to witness the early voting process.

Voters are required to wear a face mask, have their temperature checked, practise physical distancing, use hand sanitisers and scan their MySejahtera QR code before entering the early voting centre.

On Tuesday, EC secretary Datuk Ikmalrudin Ishak said 11,557 people will be voting in the early polls today.

He stated that 9,217 of the total voters were army personnel and their spouses while 2,340 were police personnel.
