KUALA LUMPUR - Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun believes political ideologies should not disrupt friendships.

In his speech during the Majlis Ramah Mesra Yang Dipertua Dewan Rakyat with Members of Parliaments and media members yesterday, Azhar spoke of his hope that the politicians would make peace with one another despite political differences.

"We have not been able to organise physical events for so long, not only in Parliament but across Malaysia due to restrictions in conducting large gatherings.

“This is the first time in two years since we last had an event like this. My hope for today is that we can enjoy the food and strengthen our bond.

"To all Yang Berhormat here today, although we have different political understanding, we may feel tensed especially with the ongoing Melaka state election, I don't think it should affect our friendship," he said.

Also present was Senate president Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim.

This is a prelude to the new English portal Sinar Daily, which is set to go live in December! Stay tuned as more comprehensive and interesting content awaits you!
