Klang Gate dam water discharged in stages, police prepared for any eventualities

SHAH ALAM - Police are gearing up to face any eventualities following an emergency move to discharge water from the Klang Gate dam in Hulu Klang Dam as it had that passed the danger mark.

As of now, 25 per cent of the total water has been discharged in stages.

Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak said all policemen from the Melawati Police Station, Hulu Klang Police Station, Ampang Police Station and Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) were on standby.

“All officers and personnel are prepared to face any eventualities especially those in Taman Melawati and nearby areas,” he told Sinar Harian when contacted early Sunday morning.

Mohamad Farouk said the first water release was done at 11.50pm.

"I ask the public to remain calm. The process was done in a careful manner and according to the prescribed procedures," he added.

He said in the event of an untoward incident, all officers and police personnel will be immediately deployed to assist the public.

"I emphasise that the lives and safety of the people and their families are the top priority," he said.
