ALOR GAJAH - Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali clears the air on hasty swearing-in, says so he could begin his duties immediately.

He cited his packed schedule as the reason why he took his oath of office early, just hours after Barisan Nasional's (BN) landslide victory in the state polls.

“I took the oath this morning (Nov 21) because I have Conference of Rulers meeting. The day after tomorrow a meeting with Menteris Besar, followed by a budget tabling as well the Exco (State Executive Council) formation.

I do not see any problem in swearing-in early so that I can carry out my duties early,” he said during a press conference on Sunday.

On the formation of the Exco, Sulaiman said it will be finalised by this weekend.

He added that the Exco line-up will be based on the person's background, capabilities, expertise and education.

The Lendu state assemblyman clocked in at 8.30am this morning before attending a brief ceremony and a photo session with state department heads.

This is the second time Sulaiman has been appointed Chief Minister having been sworn in the first time in March last year.
